Pinnacle was first awarded the broadcast rights on February 9, 1996. The University renewed the Pinnacle contract in May 2000 for an additional five-year term from August 1, 2001 to end July 31, 2006. UNL Athletic Director Steve Pederson recently made the decision to begin negotiations with Pinnacle Sports for an extension of the current contract for the period beginning August 1, 2006 through July 31, 2011. Pinnacle Sports is now the third largest college football network in the country. Pinnacle Sports Productions is owned by Paul Aaron of Elkhorn, Nebraska and Dale Jensen of Phoenix, Arizona.
Pinnacle Sports Productions heads up a large network of state and national affiliates, allowing Husker games to be heard nationwide. For the 2003 football season, KFAB (1110 AM) and KRQC (93.3 FM) are the Omaha affiliates and KLIN (1400 AM) and KFGE (98.1 FM) are the Lincoln affiliates. The network consists of 57 radio stations including 39 in-state and 18 out-of-state stations covering 14 states. Every game can be heard live on the internet at Huskers.com.
The Pinnacle Broadcast Team consists of some of the best sportscasters in Nebraska. Jim Rose will take up his second year as the play-by-play voice of Husker Football and baseball. The former Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year and award-winning sports journalist is a Nebraska native. Jim is a graduate of Lincoln Southeast High School and UNL. Former Husker Adrian Fiala is the color analyst for football broadcasts. Fiala played football (linebacker) and baseball (catcher) for the Huskers from 1967 to 1969.
Sideline reports are deliverd by Matt Davison. Sports Nightly is hosted by John Bishop, who joins Jim Rose on Husker Baseball broadcasts.
